Big names in the IT industry have signed up to help the US
government develop its secure data-sharing system.
According to IDG, Cisco, Microsoft and EMC will build the
the Secure Information Sharing Infrastructure (SISA) which will let the US
government share data securely among its various agencies.
The three companies will provide commercial, off-the-shelf
products, with smaller vendors contributing specific technologies. Cisco will
make the networks and data secure. Microsoft will provide identity management
and the operating system and and EMC the storage gear.
Liquid Machines will provide content protection, Swan
Island Networks will be designing information-sharing architectures and Titus
Labs on information labeling and classification. The project will be managed by Addx.
There are no timetables or costs for the
system.
