Again, the rumor that Mass Effect 2 will be released for the PlayStation 3 has begun making the rounds again. The sources that started the chatter were none other than two of Electronic Art’s own Web sites outside North America that were listing the game for PlayStation 3, as well as the confirmed platforms of the Xbox 360 and PC.

We reached out to our sources and we can again confirm for you that at least at this point there is no plan in the works for a Mass Effect 2 version for the PlayStation 3. Electronic Arts has also chimed in by publicly stating that the appearance on other EA regional Web sites suggesting that Mass Effect 2 was coming for the PlayStation 3 is an error that is being corrected.

It seems as if this is the rumor that will not die. We have dug pretty deeply on this one; and from what we have been able to find out, while it is possible that maybe someday you might see a Mass Effect title on the PlayStation 3 it is not currently on the radar for the studio to make it happen. By all indications that we have received, we would rule it out in the short term, but long-term, you never know. The problem is that this is the stuff that keeps the possibility alive. Sorry, folks.
