Expect it on shelves in early 2010

Nintendo is going to release a new version of the DSi in North America and Europe, which is to be called the DSi XL. The DSi XL is known as the DSi LL in Japan and basically it is a new version of the DSi with a screen that is 93% larger than the current DS Lite, with better axis viewing and a longer stylus.

While we know that it will arrive at some point in North America during the first quarter of 2010, we don’t know what might be bundled with it beyond hearing that Nintendo DSiWare will be installed on each unit.

Our sources can’t tell us yet what the price will be when the DSi XL hits North America, but it is expected that it will be about $225 or less. The larger screen is the big draw here, and while the DSi is still selling in North America, now is a good time to get a larger version out there for those that want it.
