Standing out from the iPhone
While punters who have an iPhone are limited in what they
can buy by what Steve Jobs says is morally acceptable for sale at the App
store, it seems that Android is doing well by not having that problem.
Already an application store has sprung up that can put
more porn on your android machine than you can poke a stick at. MiKandi is an app store for free and paid-for apps,
allowing developers to upload more content around adult apps. It is doing well
and analysts are expecting more to follow suit. The logic is that if Apple is running autocratic controls then a large
number of people will defect to a situation where they can do what they like.
Porn has been a major driver of Internet
applications. HD DVD very nearly
eclipsed Blu-ray due to Sony's reluctance to allow adult entertainment
publishers onto its format. The theory is that Android might gain a foothold into the
market based on the un-spoken idea that people might want to see porn splashed
all over their handsets. It is strange
that Apple has not seen this trend or acted on it.
