EA announces online service shut downs

All good things come to an end


EA announced
that the online servers for the following titles will be shut down. The first round of shut downs will start September 1st and the second round is slated for November 1st.  Certain community programs may also shut down prior to the published date.

Following is the September 1, 2007 Online Service Shutdown by game title and platform:

Need for Speed Most Wanted for PlayStation Portable
Need for Speed Most Wanted for Xbox

Most of the titles slated to be shut down are older titles. EA did not give any specifics as to how or why these titles were selected; however, it is safe to assume that they were not receiving enough game play to warrant EA’s continued online support of these titles. The terms of each EA game does state that they reserve the right to discontinue online support for a title with proper notice.
