It seems that Microsoft and Electronic Arts are playing a game of swap the executive.

Recently Peter Moore, formerly the head of Microsoft's Xbox and Windows gaming initiatives, joined EA as head of its sports division. He left Microsoft after announcing that it would have to come up with more than a billion to fix faulty Xbox 360s.

However now it seems that EA Executive Vice President John Schappert is heading to Microsoft to head up the company's Live online service.

Schappert, who previously served as chief operating officer of EA's worldwide studios, will assume the title of corporate vice president of Live, software and services. He will manage a growing online gaming service.

Schappert will report to another former EA Games executive Don Mattrick, himself a former EA executive who was named last month as the head of Microsoft's interactive entertainment business.
