Snapdragon S4 laptops already in production

Qualcomm ready for Windows RT

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 processors are finding their way into laptops as we speak.

Qualcomm Senior VP Rob Chandhok confirmed that S4 laptops are already in production, but he did not reveal any specifics. We still don’t know which vendors are involved, or what’s the OS of choice, Windows or Android, but we are willing to bet on the former.

Earlier this week Qualcomm announced plans to reshuffle its S4 lineup, splitting it into four distinct categories. Snapdragon S4 Pro parts are apparently aimed at the ultrathin/hybrid market and next year Qualcomm will introduce the APQ8064, a powerful quad-core with Adreno 320 graphics.

Chandhok did not confirm nor deny reports that Windows Phone 8 Apollo will feature dual-core support. He merely said that there is no single-core S4, but went on to point out that it is possible to use just one core. Still, we are willing to bet Apollo will feature multi-core support.
