Lenovo’s IdeaPad A10 Android notebook priced in EU

by on21 October 2013

Takes on Chromebooks at €249

Lenovo recently announced the IdeaPad A10, after it was leaked all over the place. This odd little laptop looks like the result of an unholy coupling between a netbook, chromebook and an Android tablet.

We’re not saying it’s bad though. Under the bonnet you’ll find a Rockchip RK3188 quad-core A9 processor with Mali 400 MP4 graphics and 1GB of RAM. It’s got a 10.1 1366x768 display, which is a bit more than what you’d get on cheap Android tablets. It also has micro HDMI, two USB 2.0 ports and a micro USB port, along with Bluetooth, b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth and a microSD reader.

The price isn’t too bad either. At €249 it’s cheaper than most Chromebooks, but then again it’s not powered by a dual-core Celeron, either. However, it does have Android 4.2 and access to tons of apps, which isn’t the case with Chrome OS devices. We're not sure Android notebooks will even take off, but if they're priced properly they may find a niche - for example schools could scoop them up.
