Asus has made its new X205TA netbook available for US market and this is one of the most affordable windows 8.1 with Bing machine to date.

It sells on Amazon for $199 and this is a netbook with an 11.6-inch 1366x768 resolution glare panel and a quad-core 1.33GHz Atom CPU. To be a bit more precise Asus uses Intel Bay Trail-T Quad Core Z3735 1.33 GHz processor and 2GB 1333 MHz DDR3L memory.

It measures 286 x 193.3 x 17.5 mm / 7.60 x 11.30 x 0.70 inches (WxDxH) and weights 980 grams (2.2 pounds). Asus claims that its 38Whrs polymer battery can give it up to 12 hours of battery life. This resurrected netbook comes with 32GB of eMMC storage and a card reader that supports Micro SD, Micro SDXC or Micro SDHC cards. You can expand your storage with one of these cards that come in sizes of up to 128GB.

The operating system of choice is Windows 8.1 with Bing and the machine is available in white, red, blue and gold. Asus will even throw in an Office 365 subscription for a year and Amazon claims that Asus offers 500GB of ASUS Webstorage for 2 years. The machine looks well designed and with price tag of $199 it is really a Wintel bargain that can give Chromebooks a run for their money.
