by on18 September 2020

€37,990 for the standard version

Aiways has started taking online orders for its U5 all-electric SUV. German customers can now order a U5 from www.ai-ways.eu, and become among the first in Europe to own an all-electric 410-kilometer range SUV.

By visiting Aiways’ new European website, EV buyers can discover everything they need to know about the U5 and configure a vehicle to suit their needs. The SUV will be delivered to German customers by Aiways trade partner Euronics at selected locations.

“Aiways is now one step closer to becoming the first Chinese startup to make EVs available to European consumers”, claimed Alexander Klose, Executive VP Overseas Operation at Aiways. “We are making eco-mobility a viable option for all European drivers, and part of that is making sure our online sales model streamlines the customer journey. With just a few clicks, German customers can easily spec their new U5.”

The Aiways U5 all-electric SUV is available in two trim levels; Standard and Premium. The Standard version of the Aiways U5 is priced at €37,990 in Germany (including 16 percent VAT until 31 December 2020 plus transfer costs) before application of the government’s environmental bonus.

Available in Glacier White and Aubergine, the entry-level version of the U5 offers equipment levels as standard. LED daytime running lights and heated electric exterior mirrors are included, while inside the U5 boasts a 12.3-inch Centro touch screen to keep drivers always connected. Motorists can also enjoy a three-spoke "sporty" steering wheel, contrast fabric stitching details on door interiors and AUTO dual-zone air conditioning.

The Premium version of the U5 is available with a pre-incentive price of €40,990 (including 16 percent VAT plus transfer costs). The Premium model offers the additional exterior colour electric blue, with the option of a black or cream white leather interior. The premium level model will have 19" two-tone machined alloy wheels and will come with a Panoramic sunroof and sunshade. It will also feature wireless phone charging capabilities (starting November), an electric tailgate with foot sensor and front parking radar.

With a 410 km range (WLTP) from its DC fast-charging compatible 63kWh battery, the outfit claims it offers the best price-to-range ratio in the European all-electric SUV market.

Aiways plans to start taking online orders for its U5 all-electric SUV from other European countries, such as France and Switzerland, later this year.
