Terminal Reality will use it to generate additional revenue

Terminal Reality has announced that their Infernal Engine, which is the engine that powers their upcoming release, Ghostbusters, will be available for license to third party developers. This will create a new revenue stream for the company if they are successful in licensing it.

The company claims that it already has developers using their engine technology. Our sources claim that six developers have already taken the plunge and are developing products using the Infernal Engine. Terminal Reality, which is based in Lewisville, Texas, is perhaps best known for the Windows versions of the Monster Truck Madness series that the company did for Microsoft as well as the BloodRayne series.

The Ghostbusters game is a bit of a departure from some of the stuff that the company did previously, which necessitated the building of a new engine that could offer next generation cross platform compatibility and at the same time offer advanced physics, particle support and realistic high-speed rendering technology.

The company was left in the lurch late last year with the news that Activision would not be publishing the Ghostbusters title that the company had in development. Since this time, however, the company has found a new publisher in Atari who will be releasing the finished game later this year.
