The Crew still trying to hit 60fps

by on27 August 2014

Only running at 30fps right now

The development teams working on Ubisoft’s upcoming release, The Crew has not hit its target of 60fps just yet. The latest beta versions of the game are running at 30fps, but the developers are working hard to optimize the game to get to 60fps prior to release.

According to a thread on the Ubisoft forums, the while the recent PC beta has the ability to unlock the frame rate to as high as 60fps if you do a little creative work on the config files and you have the hardware that can support it, the developer is being careful not to set the bar where they can’t deliver.

Of course the beta does not represent the final version of the game, but apparently the 30fps that was in the PC beta gives the game what is being described as perhaps a bit disappointing. Those that have unlocked the frame rate in the PC version have reported a much better experience, but what does that mean for the console version of the game.

Sources tell us that it is unlikely that it will be delayed again, so the developers are running short of time to improve things. Still we suspect that they are going to do everything possible to get the game running at 60fps. That seems to be the sweet spot for racing games these days.
