Bethesda’s Fallout 4 sold 12 million

by on17 November 2015

More than $750 million in a day

Post-apocalyptic Fallout 4 game has sold 12 million copies in just 24 hours. The Call of Duty Black Ops 3  generated $550 million in 72 hours and fell to second place on the 2015 best seller list.

Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will still be company’s most  successful game from the franchise so far. The game has been selling for 10 days and it managed to generate a whopping 22 million in sales. That is one big number and the game might be on track to generate a billion in sales.

This holiday season will be marked with big AAA game titles and probably the most anticipated one is yet to come. Today is the US launch date of the Star War Battlefront which is published by Electronic Arts. Europeans will get the game on  19 November and this might be the game of the 2015.

On the other hand Fallout 4 had strong sales in digital circles. Valve's Stream platform combined with Sony and Microsoft's digital stores scored revenue of over $100 million.

The Fallout 4 game scored  another record with 470,000 PC gamers playing the game over Steam at once. There is no doubt that there is a connection between high end AAA games and a post-apocalyptic area, it simply works.

We wrote that the GPU discrete market shrunk dramatically from 114 million GPUs in 1999 to 65 million in 2013. What happened was that people who did not play games stopped buying discrete GPUs. All 12 million people who purchased Fallout 4 need to have at least NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB, AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or better.

Bethesda recommends having a NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent, which is really almost at the top of the high end gaming spectre.
