Some re-branded, some not

The plain Geforce 9800GT cards that launch today are the same G92 65nm-based cards. They are basically Geforce 8800GT cards with a new box, cooler sticker and bios.

The bios will tell the G92 chip to represent itself as Geforce 9800GT, but these cards won’t actually support hybrid power.

This card will remain on the market as long as there are enough 65nm G92 chips and it will be replaced completely with the 55nm G92b chip as soon as possible.

The basic card will be identical to most non-overclocked Geforce 8800GT on the market, but as you know people like to buy higher numbers and therefore, we expect that 9800GT will sell quite well.
