ATI’s RV730 is supposed to compete against the quite fast Geforce 9500GT, and at the same time RV710 should compete in low end market. This market is mainly targeting OEM and System integrator machines.

Nvidia and ATI can sell hundreds of thousands of these cards for back to school or pre-Xmas shopping season and this business usually gets the revenue up.

RV710 is taking over from RV620, ATI’s 55nm entry level core but at the same time RV710 brings much more performance and enables ATI to fight and win against Geforce 9400GS. That is the whole point, as if you end up a few points faster, more OEMs will embrace your success.

ATI has even more chances than usual, as many OEMs and SIs are not happy about Nvidia’s notebook fiasco, and knowing ATI, they will use it.
