Nvidia will live on Quadro money

Saves the day

We’ve learned that Nvidia is losing ground in almost every gaming market segment that there is. ATI simply has the best roadmap of all time and they managed to hit Nvidia in just about any market segment from entry-level to the highest-end.

Still, Nvidia has Quadro, workstation market that is the company’s cash cow. Quadro is nothing more than a regular Geforce chip on a card with a special bios and very special workstation drivers. This driver makes a difference and makes the card work very fast in workstation environments, and Nvidia is cashing quite a lot of money because of that.

Since the margins on Quadro products are insanely good, Nvidia is still doing fine, as the workstation market still prefers Nvidia to ATI, and it's very hard to change people’s minds in this market. So, for the time being, Nvidia is still doing fine and will make some margins, but you will see a severe misfire when it comes to gaming GPU sales, as it will be notably less than a year ago.

Nvidia definitely needed a wake-up call and they got the worst possible one.
