FirePro = cheaper FireGL

As we pre-announced here, ATI was keen to get some workstation sales to Dell and HP and now, after it scored Dell in Q1, the HP deal is done.

AMD quietly renamed FireGL to FirePRO and we still wonder why, but HP was convinced that it should give these products a try and has decided to include them in its HP Z workstations.

Digital content creation guys can now enjoy ATI FirePro V7750, as well as the ATI FirePro V3700 and ATI FirePro V5700 graphics accelerators, available now in the new HP Z400, Z600 and Z800 Workstations.

The top SKU, ATI FirePro V7750 has 1GB memory and consumes maximal 76 watts, as well as 320 shaders 28.8GB/s memory bandwidth 128 bit memory interface and display port with up to 2560x1600 resolution. It is based on the rather old RV730 55nm chip that works at 800MHz.

The runner up is ATI FirePro V5700 and this card comes with 512MB memory, 320 shader processing units and the same bandwidth. It has the same RV730 55nm chip. The chip works at 800MHz while memory works at 1000MHz.

The cheapest one ATI FirePro V3700 has 40 shaders, 256MB memory and modest 15GB/s  bandwidth, and features the rather old 55nm RV620 chip clocked at 600MHz and memory working at 800MHz.  All three chips are DirectX 10.1 compliant, not that this plays a major role in the workstation market.
