Currently is 9 percent

Intel’s quad-core market share is finally starting to pick up. While the market share in Q2 2009 in consumer market share is predicted to stay at 9 percent, in Q3 it will get to 12 percent and to to 20 percent in Q4 2009.

In Q2 2009 Intel plans that eight percent of total CPU shipments will be Core 2 Quad 45nm based, while a miserable one percent will be “the best thing ever” Core i7 45nm based. In Q3 2009 the Core i7 market share remains at the same miserable one percent. The Core 2 Quad 45nm market share increases to 9 percent, while Lynnfield 45nm will capture 2 percent of early birds who want to get their Lynnfield quad based systems out.

Q4 2009 will be the quarter where Lynnfield takes over the rest of the quad-core market share. Intel plans to ship 10 percent of Lynnfields, but the same number might include some of the early production Clarkdale 32nm products. Core 2 Quad 45 stays at 9 percent, its best, and Core i7 is still one percent.
