Nothing to see here, move along

Several sites have published previews of AMD's HD 5700 series cards, and finally we managed to compile some specs for the new Junipers. Mind you, the cards still aren't official, and some numbers might be a bit off, but we doubt it.

So, we're looking at GPUs clocked at 700MHz in the HD 5750 version and 850MHz in the HD 5770 (some sources still indicate 825MHz). The HD 5750 features 720 stream processors, while the HD 5770 has 800.

Some early reports indicated that both the HD 5750 and the HD 5770 featured an identical memory clock, and as we suspected, they were wrong. The memory on HD 5750 cards is clocked at 1150MHz, and on HD 5770 cards it's 50MHz faster. Not really a major difference, but still worth noting. The HD 5750 will also be offered in 512MB version, but it seems the launch version will all feature 1024MB of GDDR5 memory.

The launch date has been set for October 13th, although we wouldn't be surprised to see some retailers shipping cards a few days earlier. According to some early benches, the HD 5770 is almost as fast as the HD 4890 or Nvidia's GTX 260, and at just over €130, it will cause some headaches for Nvidia. The HD 5750 should end up in the €110 to €120 range, but we still don't know much about its performance.
