AMD releases open source Fusion driver

by on30 November 2010

Fusion for Linux
AMD has released an open source Linux driver for its upcoming Ontario APU. Ontario is the first Fusion APU slated for release and AMD is obviously keen to get the Linux community on board the Fusion bandwagon. The new driver will appear in new Linux distributions starting with version 2.6.38.

As a low power part, Fusion has quite a bit of potential in the Linux market and with a power draw of just 9W and proper ATI graphics, the APU could be a perfect choice for affordable HTPCs and nettops.

In addition, AMD has already joined the MeeGo project and Ontario seems like an excellent choice for the new platform.
