Cebit 2013: Still not ready to show them

We have heard that AMD was mulling whether to show off the dual-GPU card known as Malta at Cebit and in the end it didn’t. Partners are telling us that they still haven’t got samples that they can show to the public.

Many have confirmed the existence of Radeon HD 7990 dual-chip successor, as well as the Malta codename and only thing that we know is that it is realistic to expect the card in Q2 2013, so from April onwards. At this time there is no set date for the launch.

It has been a while since AMD launched the Radeon 7990, and it was carried by a limited number of partners. Now we hear that Malta will end up with more than just three partners. It will definitely be more reasonably priced than the Asus Ares II that sets you back $1500 or €1250 and it seems like €999 is  the target, although we don’t have the exact figure yet.

The prototype Malta cards work, but we hear that AMD simply didn’t want to show any, at least not to general public at this time.
