AMD confirms Navi to arrive in Q3 2019

Navi starts with a mid-range segment

During its Q1 2019 financial call, AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, confirmed that next-generation graphics cards based on Navi GPU architecture are coming in Q3 2019, with plenty of new features and pricing sitting below Radeon VII, confirming that we will be looking at a mid-range segment graphics card.

As we wrote before, Navi GPU architecture will launch in a mid-range segment, something that we have been hearing for quite some time, and now it is confirmed that it will launch with a price lower than Radeon VII, putting it in the RX Vega range.

While some earlier reports suggested that it might launch in Q2 2019, AMD has now confirmed that we won't see it before Q3 2019. You can check out the full transcript over at Seekingalpha.com.

According to our sources, AMD will most likely give more information on Navi GPU architecture at the Computex 2019 show, but the launch could happen in August. This lines up with the Gamescom 2019 show and will allow AMD AIB partners to show off the card.

AMD has always been focused on the mid-range market, and this is a smart move as while challenging Nvidia with a high-end graphics card might give them marketing points, mid-range segment is a better target, especially for earning money and raising market share.

Hopefully, Navi architecture will provide decent performance leap compared to the previous generation, as well as both price-to-performance and performance-to-power ratio.
