Intel again confirms

After our story here where we said that Larrabee doesn't need DirectX, Intel was fast to react and state that Larrabee will support both DirectX and OpenGL.

Microsoft is about to announce DirectX 11 later this month and obviously there is not any big noise about Ray Tracing support. Intel has to, and Intel does support DirectX and OpenGL and we are hearing that samples are expected later this year and the final production at some point next year.

We do expect many driver issues, especially with older games, as Intel’s graphic driver sucks to this very date and we don’t think that the company can fix it until mid-2009.

With buggy drivers or not, Larrabee should be coming in 2009 and we even expect that Intel will show it at IDF, but we don’t think we will take part in this happy “everyone loves Intel” event.
