Tag Heuer's watch teased

by on13 October 2015

Oh you little Intel Android tease you.

Google, Intel and luxuary watch-makter Tag Heuer have been teasing the release of a new smartwatch.

Intel, and Google have all been talking about the watch since the beginning of the year but now it appears that it is ready to be shown off.

The "Tag Heuer Connected" teaser site shows that the luxury watchmaker is diving into the smartwatch market with an Android Wear device. However at the bottom of the page that reads "Developed in partnership with Google and Intel."

This gives us the first glimpse at the watch's design. The description on the teaser site says, "TAG Heuer is pushing the Swiss avant-garde limits even further with the TAG Heuer Connected. Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology. The clock is ticking to the major breakthrough."

The site has a countdown for November 9, 2015.

The watch will be high end. Last month, Tag Heuer's CEO, Jean-Claude Biver, told CNBC that the smartwatch would sell for around $1,800 and would be upgradeable.
Watchmakers no doubt feel pressured to respond to the smartwatch market. Other than the closed source Apple, Android Wear is the only smartwatch operating system out there, so they have to use that.

Intel has its "Quark" SoC, which could fit in the watch but one wonders about Google's involvement is interesting. It might be something new to be seen in a Marshmallowy version of Android Wear.
