HTC claims to have flogged 15,000 Vive VR headsets

by on01 March 2016

Just 10 minutes of pre-orders

HTC claims it sold 15,000 Vive VR headsets in the 10 minutes after they went on sale.

That’s not bad for something that costs $800 and requires a $1,000 PC.It is also doing well for something which has little software, or an earthly use yet.

Vive is a PC peripheral  which has been made by HTC and its chums at Valve. It is supposed to enable you to feel like you are inside of a game or a simulated experience. It also has a number of extra sensors that can track your movement around a room, so you can walk about and bump the furniture.Other than that is similar to the competition.

However the early success is an indication that there is a lot of interest in the technology, if only from those who want to see what it is like. It will probably take off when it is fully backed by the porn industry, but it is on track to make $861 million in spending this year.
