OLED, better tracking

Xiaomi has released its Miband 2 and the new fitness band offers much for a tiny price. It starts selling tomorrow for equivalent of $23 (149 Yuan) in China and a few companies will ship it to Europe and USA for a bit more.

The new fitness band is Xiaomi's first to use a 0.42-inch OLED screen with touch screen control. Like its predecessor the new Miband 2 has a heart rate monitor and a sports tracker for fitness / sleep activities.

If you have Xiaomi phone, the band will unlock your phone for you. With Android 4.4 and higher based phones and iOS 7 based iPhones it will provide alarms, wake up vibration and call reminders.

Xiaomi claims the watch has a 20 day battery life which is is impressive considering that it is coming from a 70mAh battery. The manufacturer has a military grade ADI sensor, optical heart rate sensor and a second generation Bluetooth 4.0 for faster and stable connections.

Like its predecessor Xiaomi Miband (sells for $15) it supports exchangeable bands for you fashion statement. The new Xiaomi Miband 2 measures: 40.3 x 15.7 x 10.5 mm (L x W x H) with adjustable 55-210 mm, and it weighs 7 grams.

It will remind you to sleep, to wake, to step up and so some exercise and at a fraction of cost of Fitbit or Microsoft bands. We have played with the previous version that had a heartrate sensor, and the band is comfortable to wear and tells you exactly how many steps you took and what did you most of the day.

Geekbuying has a picture of shedloads of stock that is ready to ship for $39.99 tomorrow 7 June.
