Faster ones for server environments

OCZ has announced its newest Vertex EX solid state drives, designed for server environments and enterprise applications. The new Vertex EX series will be available in 60 and 120GB capacities and will use SLC NAND flash memory.

These 2.5-inch Vertex EX SSDs will offer read and write speeds of up to 260MB/s and 210MB/s for the 120GB version and 260MB/s and 200MB/s for the 60GB version. Both of them will have the same sustained write speed of up to 100MB/s. The drives will be equipped with 64MB of onboard cache, SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and will have a MTBF of 1.5 million hours.

The drives will have a two-year warranty, and since we are talking about SLC NAND flash chips these will be much more expensive than the original Vertex series.
