Kingston Digital, the flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, has announced that it has started to ship its new "ultra value" UV400 SSD series.

To be available in 120GB, 240GB, 480GB and 960GB capacities, the Kingston UV400 SSD features a standard 2.5-inch form-factor with SATA 6Gbps interface. It is based on a well known Marvell's 88SS1074 quad-channel controller paired up with yet to be detailed TLC NAND.

Such combination will offer sequential performance of up to 550MB/s for read and up to 500MB/s for write, with random 4K performance reaching 90,000 IOPS for read and 50,000 IOPS for write, depending on the model.

Raed at up to 400 TBW endurance rating and backed by a 3-year warranty, the new Kingston UV400 SSD series should bring a new level of performance at an entry-level price, allowing users to replace their aging mechanical hard drives.

As it was the case with earlier available Kingston UV-series SSD, the new Kingston SSDNow UV400 series will also be available as a standalone drive or as an "upgrade bundle kit", which includes cables, 3.5-inch and 9.5mm adapters and an exernal USB 2.5-inch case.

Both the standalone drive and the upgrade bundle kit should be already available in Europe with a price set at €38,99 for the 120GB model, €57,90 for the 240GB, €114,90 for the 480GB and €253,90 for the 960GB version. The upgrade bundle kit should add around €10 to the price.
