269 quid, 35 to 55 per month

Apple's
iPhone is set to invade Britannia today, and shoppers are in queue to get the first iPhones to be officially sold in the old world.

Carphone Warehouse, the only independent retailer to be stocking the device, will close its stores early today, only to reopen them at 6 P.M. for the iPhone launch with some extra goodies on hand to keep the crowd from rebelling.

When the hour arrives, Carphone Warehouse CEO, Charles Dunstone, will sell the U.K.'s fist iPhone in the company's flagship store on Oxford Sreet in London. Dunston says he is looking forward to selling the first one, and we have no doubt that Apple fanboys will be more than willing to play the part and buy the first iPhones.

The iPhone is available exclusively on the O2 network. The price is £269 incl. VAT, with contracts priced between £35 and £55 per month.

We already said that Carphone Warehouse expects to sell 10,000 at launch day, here.
