The new smartphone from the big leagues

Samsung recently announced their smartphone called Omnia, and its full model name is SGH-i900. This phone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 OS.

Omnia packs a big touch display 3,2’’ in diagonal, 5 megapixel camera with auto focus, geo-tagging, auto panorama mode and software for face and smile recognition. Besides the large display and a nice camera, the phone also features GPS, stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, up to 16GB of internal memory as well as an additional slot for memory cards.

Of course, there is also the audio player and an FM radio receiver. This smartphone uses Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, but it’s a bit sad that more and more handsets resemble iPhones these days.

Working frequencies are quad-band GSM/EDGE and HSDPA 7.2 for Europe and Asia.

Omnia will hit the Asian market in 2H of June, whereas Europe will have to wait until July.
