But will keep Windows Mobile

Samsung
has promised that the introduction of its new Linux operating system Bada will not kill off its Windows Mobile and Android-based platforms. However senior vice president Don Joo Lee, the telco manufacture will take Symbian for a walk in a Berlin woods and discretely put a bullet in the back of its head.

Samsung is currently the top handset vendor in a number of markets, including the US, the UK, France, Russia, the Netherlands and Chile. The company's market share in France is even as high as 40 per cent so any changes in operating system are important.

Many felt that yesterday's release of Bada would be the final excuse the company needed to get rid of Windows Mobile, which analysts feel is getting out classed by Open Source rivals.

However it is clear that Samsung thinks there is some mileage in the Windows OS still. In fact it is still popular with businesses because it integrates well with Windows based networks.
