Samsung readies first Ice Cream Sandwich phone

by on29 June 2011

Mmmmm…
It appears that Samsung will be the first vendor to launch a Google Ice Cream Sandwich phone and BGR.com has leaked a few more details about the highly anticipated device.

There is still no word on pricing or availability, but the spec sheet looks like something straight out of an iPhone fanboy’s wet dream. The phone is said to feature a 720p screen, which Samsung plans to brand as a Super AMOLED HD display. Samsung has a very good track record in the display department and this comes as no surprise.

The phone will pack an OMAP4460 processor at an undisclosed clock, in addition to 1GB of memory, 5MP camera with 1080p support and 4G LTE. The name has not been confirmed, but the codename appears to be “Prime”, hence the phone could launch as the Google Nexus Prime.

It is still not clear whether Google will rely exclusively on Samsung for the introduction of Android 4.0, as some punters claim Google will working with multiple vendors and carriers. This could make for a rather interesting showdown.
