HTC reportedly working on first Snapdragon S4 Pro device

Superphone, possibly even a tablet

HTC will reportedly be first manufacturer to roll out a device powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro.

According to knowyourmobile.com, HTC is likely to roll out a phone based on Qualcomm’s flagship chip, but there is also talk of a new HTC tablet, which could also pack the S4 Pro. The site speculates that the devices could be shown off at IFA 2012. Of course, take this with a grain of salt.

Last week Qualcomm demoed a developer tablet based on the new quad-core, so the chip should be ready for prime time. Also, the company already confirmed that it expects the first batch of smartphones based on the S4 to show up in late 2012.

The S4 Pro will definitely be the chip to watch out for, at least until the competition starts rolling out the first A15 parts. However, A15 chips are still months away and the S4 is likely the be the fastest thing around in 2012, if not beyond.

And now for an Android enthusiast’s wet dream – imagine a next generation Nexus phone based on the S4 Pro. [Thanks for ruining my day. Ed]
