AMD powered 15-inch Surface and Intel-powered 13- and 15-inch

Rumor has it that Microsoft will show an updated Surface Pro based on the Snapdragon 8CX Compute Platform, steering away from the usual Intel-only update. There will also be a 15 inch AMD version so Microsoft is definitely opening up to diverse manufacturers.

Microsoft's commitment to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8CX shows that the software outlet is very serious about the ARM-based future and that it will continue investing in this platform.

Adding LTE connectivity and great battery life to the mix will help Qualcomm’s Always-connected PC effort by having a vendor that will ship great quantities based on the Snapdragon platform. There is a roadmap for 8CX and Qualcomm will keep them coming and obviously, Qualcomm is going to enjoy the spotlight.

The Intel 10-nanometer Ice lake and Comet Lake is an interesting mix as both are quite a great platforms. Intel will win most of the designs with its new Surface Laptop devices but Microsoft also puts AMD and its hardware under the spotlight with a Surface Laptop 15-inch device.

Microsoft will show more tomorrow, so stay tuned in to Fudzilla!
