Xiaomi's Mi Note 10 Lite brings a lot for the money

by on01 May 2020

Curved AMOLED display, 64MP Sony camera, and Snapdragon 730G

In addition to the global launch of two new Redmi smartphones, Xiaomi also unveiled a rather interesting Mi Note 10 Lite smartphone, which packs quite a lot of features at a rather affordable price point, including a curved AMOLED screen, and a 64-megapixel Sony main sensor, all starting at €349.

Featuring a glass front and glass back with Gorilla Glass 5, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite measures 157.8x74.2x9.67mm and weighs 204g. Xiaomi packed quite a few neat features in the Mi Note 10 Lite and it matches the Mi Note 10 and the Mi Note 10 Pro in many aspects, except the camera of course.

Same curved AMOLED screen, battery, and SoC as the Mi Note 10/Note 10 Pro

It is rather interesting that Xiaomi decided to give the Mi Note 10 Lite same SoC as the standard Mi Note 10 or the Mi Note 10 Pro, so you are looking at Qualcomm's 8nm octa-core Snapdragon 730G, with two 2.2GHz Kryo 470 Gold and six 1.8GHz Kryo 470 Silver cores, coupled with Adreno 618 GPU. The SoC is paired up with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage, or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

It even has the same 6.47-inch curved AMOLED screen with 2340x1080 resolution with HDR10 support, 430 nits (typ) brightness, DCI-P3 color gamut, and 400000:1 contrast ratio. The screen has a teardrop notch with a slightly cheaper 16-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.48 aperture lens.

With that size and screen, you are looking at 91.4 percent screen-to-body ratio and 398ppi of pixel density.

The Mi Note 10 Lite also gets the in-screen fingerprint unlocking and the same 5,260mAh battery with 30W fast charging.

The camera system gets toned down

Xiaomi had to differentiate the Mi Note 10 Lite from the rest of the pack, and the camera is pretty much the only thing that took a hit.

When compared to the Mi Note 10, the 32-megapixel front camera was replaced with a 16-megapixel one, and the rear camera system has taken a big hit as well. The main 108-megapixel sensor has been replaced with a 64-megapixel one, the Sony IMX686, which was placed behind an f/1.89 aperture lens. the AI Quad Camera system, as Xiaomi calls it, also comes with an 8-megapixel sensor with ultrawide f/2.2 aperture lens, 2-megapixel macro sensor with f/2.4 lens, and 5-megapixel depth sensor, also behind f/2.4 aperture lens.

The rest of the specifications include IR blaster, USB 2.0 Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, and the latest MIUI 11 OS based on Android 10.

A lot at that price point

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite will be launching later this month starting at €349 for the 6GB/64GB and €399 for the 8GB/128GB version.

It will be available in Midnight Black, Glacier White, and Nebula Purple color options.

Of course, you can always go for the standard Mi Note 10 or the Mi Note 10 Pro that start at around €400 and €450, respectively.
