EPU vs. DES, Round Two

Ding ding, Round Two has started. Asus decided to issue an official statement to address the rumor which accuses Asus of making false claims with their EPU motherboard feature. Basically, the rumor states that Asus's EPU just doesn't do what it's supposed to do.

According to the rumor, Asus's EPU, which should be a hardware-based energy saving solution, is actually based on software, and it doesn't deliver the promised power savings unlike DES, the power saving solution from a certain "Taiwanese Motherboard Manufacturer."

According to the statement from Asus, this "disinformation" is extremely damaging to Asus and misleading to the consumers. Asus has also noted that it reserves the right to take legal action against any individual, organization or corporation responsible for such rumors, basically the plain legal stuff.

Unfortunately, Asus's statement doesn't address the technical part of the rumor. Either those rumors are true, or Asus is just taking some time to get its forces ready for the full scale war against, as the statement calls it, a "certain Taiwanese Motherboard Manufacturer."

This is probably not over yet, and we certainly like these kind of wars, since competition has always been a consumers' friend.

You can check out the official statement here.
