Asustek claims 70 percent market share

Motherboard stands for comfort


Asustek is claiming that its  X79 series motherboards have attained a global market share of 70 per cent for motherboard models.

Well at least those  equipped with Intel X79 Express chipset.  It also claims that its Z68 and P67 series motherboards have each reached global market shares of 50-60 per cent. Asustek will begin to ship motherboards equipped with Intel Ivy Bridge processors and 7 series chipsets in late February 2012.

Asustek said that it shipped 23.5 million motherboards in 2011 and aims to ship 25 million units in 2012. Meanwhile Asustek has announced that it will upgrade operating systems of all Android models to Android 4.0 on January 12, 2012. This week we are expecting to see the outfit show off its 10-inch full HD Eee Pad Transformer priced at US$499-599, 3G MIMO and Wi-Fi MIMO priced at $399-499 and $299-349 respectively, the company pointed out.
It also said that it will  unveil 10-inch Padfone at the 2012 Mobile World Congress to take place in Barcelona during February 27-March 1.

Asustek will launch Windows 8 tablet PC models based on Intel Clover Trail-W platform and ARM platform for at least $599 in in the fourth quarter of 2012. The company dismissed claims that its inventory was packed and so there was no plan to reduce production in the first quarter.
