Windows 10 and Skylake not helping

Motherboard makers are reporting falling sales, even though they had expected to see some knock on effect from Windows 10 and Skylake.

According to Digitimes all motherboard makers are seeing declines in July revenues despite Skylake and Windows 10 launches.  This would ordinarily mean a boost in sales, even on a small scale -- only it didn't.

Intel recently launched its latest 14nm Skylake-based processors and Microsoft offering free upgrades to Windows 10, motherboard players continued to see weak on-year performances in July 2015.

Gigabyte Technology achieved revenues of $140.92 million for July, up 10.36 per cent on month, but down 5.3 per cent on year. Combined consolidated revenues for the first seven months of 2015 were NT$29.06 billion, down 10.5 per cent on year.

Gigabyte's on-year revenues decline was mainly due to a sharp graphics card shipment drop. The company also had a slight decline in motherboard shipments.

MSI had July revenues of $204 million down slightly by 4.9 per cent on month and 2.03 per cent on year. Combined consolidated revenues from January-July were NT$45.27 billion, down 6.16 per cent on year. Thanks to its gaming notebook and graphics card businesses, the company is currently still achieving profits.

ECS saw its consolidated revenues drop 23.4 per cent sequentially and 32.29 per cent on year to reach of $117,457,962 in July.

ASRock reported July consolidated revenues of $169,38,674, up 7.2 per cent on month, but down 23.9 per cent on year..

Biostar had revenues which were up 16.4 per cent on month, but down 21.1 per cent on year. The company's combined consolidated revenues for first seven months of 2015 were down 38 per cent on year.
