AMD starts cutting prices

by on02 June 2017

Prices aren’t Ryzen at all

Already good value for money, AMD is dropping the price of its Ryzen 7 processors.

Newegg has cut the prices on AMD's whole 8C/16T range improving their price to performance ratios even further.

According to Hexus the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X is down from $499.99 to $459.99; AMD Ryzen 7 1700X down from $399.99 to $349.99 and the AMD Ryzen 7 1700 down from $329.99 to $314.99

AMD and Newegg are also making minor price cuts to the 1700X and 1800X processors. The 1700X gets the biggest price cut of all with a full $50 cut.

The price cuts provide an answer to Intel's recent launch of the Core-X Series processors. Intel’s 'Extreme' rivals include the 4C/8T Core i7 7740X, listed at $339, and the 6C/12T Core it-7800X, listed at $389.

Buying an Intel processor with 8C/16T will set you back $599.

That is not to say that AMD has totally cleaned Intel’s clock. Chipzilla’s Core i7 7740X has broken several OC and benchmarking world records at Computex this week.

So far there is no indication that the price cuts will be seen in Europe. AMD is probably waiting to see what the UK election does to the value of the pound before announcing anything interesting in Blighty. The Euro is also a bit of a mess.
