AMD Ryzen 3 2300X spotted in benchmarks

by on03 July 2018

Little quad-core is quite an overclocker

AMD has enjoyed the praise its Ryzen 2nd Generation CPUs have been getting from both the press and consumers but now it appears that the entry-level market will be getting the same taste with Ryzen 3 2300X, which happens to be quite an overclocker, at least judging from these first leaks.

Appearing on Chiphell forums, this little quad-core SKU, which is stuck with four threads as it does not have enabled simultaneous multithreading (SMT), is actually quite an overclocker as it managed to hit 4.3GHz on Biostar's X370 Racing motherboard at 1.38V. This puts the Ryzen 3 2300X in level with the Core i3-8350K, one of the most interesting Intel entry-level CPUs.

Earlier rumors suggested that the Ryzen 3 2300X works at 3.5GHz base and 4.0GHz Turbo clocks, has 8MB of L3 cache, and as all Ryzen 2nd Generation CPUs, is made on 12nm manufacturing process and Zen+ architecture so it should support XFR2 and Precision Boost 2 technologies.

In addition to the Ryzen 3 2300X, AMD is also expected to release the Ryzen 5 2500X, both of which should launch together with the new mid-range B450 chipset motherboards.

Hopefully, these entry-level/mid-range CPUs should launch soon.
