Lenovo jumps the gun on rest of AMD's 2nd gen Ryzen lineup

Ryzen 3 2300X and Ryzen 5 2500X

While AMD has officially announced its 2nd generation Ryzen desktop CPUs, there are two entry- and mid-range SKUs that are missing, the Ryzen 3 2300X and Ryzen 5 2500X. Thankfully, Lenovo has spilled the beans on these two SKUs, suggesting that they might be just around the corner.

According to the specifications leaked by Lenovo and caught by Toms Hardware site, the upcoming Ryzen 3 2300X and the Ryzen 5 2500X will bring significant improvements compared to their 14nm predecessors, the Ryzen 3 1300X and the Ryzen 5 1500X, including a 300MHz higher Boost clock, as well as all the improvements that come with the 12nm Zen+ cores.

Bear in mind that the Ryzen 3 2300X is still a quad-core part without SMT enabled, has 65W TDP, probably the same amount of cache (if the CCX design remains the same), but also gets a better DDR4-2933 support. The Ryzen 5 2500X is a quad-core part with SMT enabled, so you end up with eight threads, same 65W TDP, and the same 2933MHz memory support.

Hopefully, these two SKUs will be officially launched by AMD soon and show up in retail/e-tail, as these are perfect for entry-level and mid-range builds.
