December / CES showcase possible

AMD has never really said that it will ship the Zen this year, the company was always cautious about giving  the exact date of the launch. We still believe that the desktop version of Zen will get shown late this year, December or at CES, in the first days of next year. Bench-life thinks that the actual shipping will happen in February. 

Server and notebook deeper in 2017

AMD has showed off some clock and performance details about upcoming desktop Zen and some of you might remember that back in June at Computex, Fudzilla said that if the Zen boots windows it will boost AMD’s share too. 

Server follows, then notebook

At the Q and A session after AMD's press conference, company CEO Lisa Su just confirmed that desktop Zen x86 chips are the first products to arrive for consumers. These will be followed by a server lineup, then a notebook lineup.

Another reason for fewer PC sales

While many have pointed to PC sales slumping because they are lasting longer, there are some numbers which suggest that people are not using their desktops so much.

After 28/32nm comes 14nm Zen line

AMD has an update for investors and this information was supposed to get to them at the financial conference call scheduled for May. It got out a bit earlier than that and gave us some insight into AMD's plans for 2016.

Greenland APU gives it the necessary firepower

AMD mini cores and modular designs backed by HBM graphics and the upcoming Greenland GPU core might be a winning combination for AMD.

IDF 2015 August launch possible

This year's Intel Developers Forum will start in Mid-August, not in mid-September as usual. One possible reason for the change might be the Skylake desktop launch, that is expected at this time.

Office is a very important product for Microsoft and the company doesn't plan to abandon the desktop version anytime soon.
