Panel orders drop by 20 percent, chip orders by 15 percent
On Friday, the Nikkei Asian Review journal published a story hinting that some of Apple’s part suppliers in the iPhone supply chain are still trying to fix low yield rates of their components. Some forecasts are now cutting total iPhone production for the July to December period by five percent, from 120 million down to 114 million.

A recent 6.4-magnitude earthquake in the southern Taiwan region that killed at least 116 people was originally expected to have a less than 1 percent impact on semiconductor manufacturing in the region. TSMC now expects to have an impact above 1 percent, according to an updated report from DigiTimes.
