Cheap, cheerful and AMD based

ECS
has released a range of cheap and cheerful motherboards to run the latest six core AMD chips.

The A885GM-A2 and A885GM-M2 motherboards are based on the latest AMD 880G / SB850 chipsets. According to the press release, these motherboards are ready to support the latest AMD Six-Core Phenom II CPU, which means that users will gain additional 50 per cent performance over Quad-Core systems.

The ECS A885GM-A2 and A885GM-M2 are equipped with ECS M.I.B. III (Motherboard Intelligent BIOS) which is a bios-level easy overclocking utility. Apparently this will allow users to get extra performance by overclocking the whole system themselves.

Both boards come with SATA 6Gbps function which provides two times faster transfer rate than the previous generation. Furthermore, The PCIE Gen.2 slots provide double bandwidth over PCIE Gen.1 for high-end graphics cards and high transfer rate add-on cards such as the ECS U3N2 USB 3.0 controller.

There is an easy Bios Live Update utility and an easy Driver Live Update utility to help you update BIOS and drivers. The boards are going for about $180.
