Just like achievements on the Xbox 360

As if you don’t already have enough ways to customize your Xbox Avatar, sources are telling us that an Avatar Store is coming soon to the Xbox 360 as everyone had pretty much guessed would be the case. What is a bit stranger is the same sources are suggesting that soon developers will be able to give Avatar clothing and accessories away as an earned achievement of sorts.

Imagine, if you will, that the developer signs a shoe company as a sponsor in their action sports title; and for completing a mission or activity you are awarded by the game not only a new pair of the sponsored shoes to use within the game, but you are rewarded with the shoes for use on your Avatar the next time you customize it as well.

So you will have many options to customize your Avatar, including using the free stuff, buying new stuff, or earning new stuff within games. While no titles have been announced, Microsoft is working with multiple partners on the concept and it seems that developers are attracted to the idea of being able to use the Avatars in this way.

While some gamers hate the Avatars, other have spent countless hours in the customization of their Avatars to make them resemble themselves in real life. Many change the Avatar’s clothing on a daily or weekly basis as well as customize its clothing to reflect the player’s real life mood or the weather.

Many gamers have spoken out against the use of Avatars entirely, saying that they just don’t like the direction that the use of the Avatars has made the system go in. Microsoft defends their use, saying that the choice to use the Avatars was, in fact, to make the system more accessible and customizable.

We here at Fudzilla would just be happier if they would release more premium themes for the NXE, as many of the ones currently offered are just not that good.
