No Left 4 Dead 2 for PS3
Despite PS3 box shots appearing on the web
Sources have confirmed to Fudzilla today that despite the fact that a Left 4 Dead 2 box shot has appeared in some locations on the Web, the sequel to the popular original Left 4 Dead is only in development for the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. No development effort is in progress for a PlayStation 3 version at this time.
While PS3 owners can only hope that Valve will change their mind at some point in the future, wishing does not make it so. The drama surrounding a possible PS3 version started when a box shot for Left 4 Dead 2 appeared on the Electronic Arts Web site. While the PS3 box shot has disappeared and the site clearly states that the game will be available for Xbox 360, PC, and PC download, it still did not stop tongues from wagging about a possible PS3 version.
We can also tell you that from the whispers that we hear at the moment Valve is still undecided about who will actually distribute Left 4 Dead 2, but it is likely at this point that Valve’s relationship with the Electronic Arts partner program will continue and the title will be distributed by EA again this time around. In the meantime, while our sources do indicate that Valve is shopping the title around, it continues to appear up on EA’s web site. One can only think that unless Valve is able to make the deal of the century, Left 4 Dead 2 will be distributed by EA; and that is what we predict will happen.
