AMD has Buldozer CPU prototypes in house

Sampling partners in Q4 2010
At its analyst conference call in November, AMD might get ready to talk about some more exact dates on the launch date of its Bulldozer architecture. At this time, AMD is only telling the world that Bulldozer will launch in 2011 but John Fruehe, AMD’s director of servers has said that partners should get samples in Q4 2010.

In November time we will get something better than just shipping in 2011. Our sources are implying that Bulldozer prototypes are in quite good shape and that despite the rumours that see it being shipped in the second half of 2011, we actually might see its first Opteron server chips as soon as first half of 2011.

Mr Fruehe did confirm that AMD has been playing with chips in house and he said that they are happy with what they are seeing. He implies that partners should be excited once they get the chips in Q4 2010.

AMD can just hope that all will go well, as it has some serious market share to regain.

Well, my money is on them and if they continue to innovate but at the same time think about their customers, they'll have a bright future.

Here's hoping for some good laptops and desktops in 2011.

Well many wait for Buldozer. Let's hope it will give intel a hard time if priced correctly.

My guess is Sever / Workstation launch right at the end of March, so they can say they launched in Q1.

Desktop will come mid Q2.

Everything I hear suggests that AMD are very happy so far and will launch as soon as they're satisfied with yields.

They were haoppy with Barcelona and we all know how that one turned out to be... ;-)

GPU wise, I have no doubdt that AMD delivers on its promise (even exceeds it), but CPU wise, I'd be very, very cautious since I've got burned before with the "40% better performance than Core2". It's up to them to deliver this time around and redeem their selves from this mess.

The difference is that no-one was really expecting that much from Barcelona and leaks immediately sprung, exposing the PR drivel as just that (drivel).

All the reasonably well-founded rumours suggest that AMD are justly confident and that Bulldozer (and Ontario & Zacate - less so Llano) will be very fast indeed.

if this design works it will be a game changer I think, since it should be much more effective than intel's hyperthreading. At the very least it'll finally have AVX compatibility and all those SSE instructions they've been lacking. Can't wait to get one! Hopefully they still have an ace up their sleeve they are keeping secret to surprise everyone with.

I hope the pricing and performance will be better than the spelling in the title ;)

You think right, don't know why people voted you down, the brand "Bulldiozer" with two L's is in their slides FFS.

Well, Fufy again doing his thing... no wonder.

because he emphasized the 'bull' part which makes it seems like he think bulldozer will be shit, from a bull.
