iPad 2 to be released in April

Written by Nick Farell

Be still my beating heart
The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured another hellish rumour that claims that a Apple is going to release a new iPad 2 in April.

The new iPad will make the existing iPad redundant by offering all the services that users wanted in the first place. Beancounter Brian Marshall of Gleacher told Digital Trends that Apple will stick to the same annual release pattern it uses for the iPhone and iPods.

He thinks that it is logical for the iPad 2 to appear in the shops in April following the launch of a CDMA iPhone in March. While Marshall is using an analysts' tool of “guessing” it is based on the news that Jobs' Mob has commissioned several companies to manufacture the iPad 2’s HDI (high density interconnect) boards in early February.

Sadly this is based on a Digitimes report which is a bit like flipping a coin. However the date makes sense. We have also seen a few price cuts from retailers on the original iPad, who want to clear their inventories in the Christmas blitz. The new iPad is rumoured to have the ability to run on various carriers, have two cameras located on either side of the pad and use a mini-USB.

All minor stuff which makes the iPad a little more useful and able to compete with Android tablets which are starting to appear. Of course, the iPad will not run Flash. That would be too useful.

Before jumping on the tablet bandwagon, I am waiting for one that will have a color e-paper type display, such as Mirasol:

My main use for a tablet will be as a book and magazine reader. Reading on a LCD screen is tiring and doesn't work well outside.

if it hasn't got a dual core cpu, or something equivalent to what will be in phones next april...or if it doesn't have flash...
forget it.

They needn't bother releasing another one if it still has the glossy screen, tried using one a few days ago, but I was outside and the sun was out I couldn't see shit because of the glare

The Adam Ink will pretty much cover all bases. Like many other people, I see no point of a tablet with common display because I already has a laptop. Color e-ink display would definitely be better for reading wherever the iPad will burn your retina for long use and not to mention the awful glare that the LCD/LED screen produces under the sun.

I don't like the fact that Apple's devices are not allowed to run flash but I also think that flash its probably the worse thin that happened to the Internet lately. IMHO Flash = PUKE. Its good that it's multi-platform but still it requires soooo much computing power even for a 300x200 video that makes you wonder. How about the idiots that are "environmental conscious" but don;t stop and think that their computer, very economical @ IDLE, is running @ 90% of its performance just to render their favorite sites.
