Powercolor officially launches HD 6870 Eyefinity 6

With six mini DisplayPort outputs

After treating us to a sneak preview of its new Radeon HD 6870 Eyefinity 6 Edition graphics card, Powercolor has now officially announced it.

The specs are pretty much what you would expect from the HD 6870 card so you are looking at a Barts XT GPU with 1120 Stream processors. The GPU ticks at 900MHz while the 2GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with 256-bit memory interface works at 4200MHz. It is good that Powercolor decided to strap it with additional 1GB of memory due to the fact that higher resolutions usually need more memory. The I/O panel offers six mini DisplayPort outputs.

The card is cooled by Powercolor's dual-slot non-reference cooler with a central fan and the card needs two PCI-Express 6-pin connectors. The price or the availability date haven't been announced but we are sure that the card will show up in retail/e-tail pretty soon.

No, they added the extra gig to push enough pixels across 6 monitors.

Umm, pretty much a similar statement isn't it? Instead of just 1400x900, 6 screens would be like 8400x900 in effect wouldn't it? Higher res is more pixels... Unless I missed some galactic point?

from my galaxy to yours, you are correct sir...

1400x6 isn't like 8400, it IS 8400. now excuse me while my 24" BX2431 @ 1920x1080, and my Crossfired Sapphire 6950's piss on you and your sh*tball resolution.

Its everything I said it would be, huge, hot, and extremely power hungry! Oh, and expensive! Watch for the price drop in about 2 weeks too! :D How about voiding your warranty if you use the "unlocking switch" that comes standard with the card in the first place!

"the HD 6990 4GB has a dastardly trick up its sleeve in the form of the Antilles Unlocking Switch, which overclocks each GPU by 50MHz and overvolts them to keep this stable. While this overclock is a standard feature of all HD 6990 4GB cards, it will void your warranty and also boost the power consumption of the card to an incredible 450W." This thing will burn up a PC!!

The turd bird is aloft look out below!

Thanks for the FUD Warrior. If you actually bothered to read anything you would realize that the warranty isn't voided just by using the switch.

In the case of the crowning heap of shit that is the GTX 590 expect a few more nuclear power stations to come online to power just one card, and expect a massive increase in global warming as all 6 people who like Nshittia buy one of them.

Huang and his bunch of cretins give new meaning to 'epic fail'.

Aaallll righty then! Sounds like the sheer disappointment of being served another HUGE, 12" long, blistering hot turd, straight from the chute of AM-DUNG! This thing even got its @$$ kicked by the 580 AND even the lowly 6970 in some games!! ARE YOU KIDDIN ME?!!! :-| :D BWAHAHAHAH!!
