Motorola Xoom quad core for back to school

Written by Fuad Abazovic

The first Quad tablet
We heard that Tegra 3 aka Kal-El, quad core should start shipping in early Q3 and it looks like Motorola might be the first to ship the product.

Nvidia reportedly said to ship Kel-El in August. Our sources suggest that Motorola plans to ship its new tablet around back to school time, and with this specification, this tablet can make a stand against iPad 2.

You should see a new tablet around September time, sources suggest. Graphics is reported to be much faster on Kal El compared to Tegra 2 and iPad 2 and Nvidia will promote the new chip with gaming in mind. Imagine FSAA 16X in Angry Birds Rio at 60 FPS, all passively cooled.

Until that time you have to settle for Cortex A9 dual cores such as Tegra 2 or similar or go for the iPad 2.

Too bad Moto have pinned their hopes on Nshittia's underperforming Turdgra chips.

I know you're a troll and not worth responding to, but just in case:

Dual-core android devices:

Tegra 2 = 8 tablets, 4 phones
Exynos = 1 phone
OMAP 4 = 1 phone
Snapdragon 3 = 1 tablet, 1 phone

I wonder why almost everyone is using Tegra 2.

FYI all ARM cortex-A9 SOCs perform about the same on CPU side.
On GPU side, OMAP 4 > Tegra 2 > Exynos, though their differences are small.
Snapdragon 3's GPU performance is unknown.

EDIT: I didn't mention Apple A5, because it'll never be used for an Android device

Ya know there is a way to overclock these SoC, Xoom was reported to hit 1,5ghz on CPU, with is great.

From tegra 3 to gtx 590 are all based on the end of the 40 nm,
When tegra and geforce (kepler) will suppport 28nm chips by skipping a whole 32nm chip gen, it will be way more powerfull and efficient and will cost as much if not less, ( which are both Around the corner to launch in a few quarters) so who cares about these products when the next chips are around the corner that will skip a whole gen in performance and efficiency?

Sigh... I promise to sell my Xoom in May. I hate and love technology at the same time.

Look at IPad 2 and you get your answer

by the way I won't think Tegra 4 and
Tegra 3 would launch at the times near
close to each other unless other companies
produce their 4 core arm based products
on 28nm this year

Ah yes about that, I did not mention anything about tegra 4, but. Tegra 3 based on 28nm chips.
Qualcomm also has a quad core launching Q1 2012 base on the smaller chips size. ( and their is texasinstrument s, marvel, samsung, apple) to follow.
These chips might not be seen till early 2012, but I think the wait will be worth it IMO.
